The Greater Wichita YMCA, committed to overall community health - has hired a Healthy Eating Director to improve and expand our nutrition support.

As a part of the Y's Vision 2020 goal to lead the community in creating a culture of good nutrition, we are pleased to announce that Tammi Krier will join the Y team as the new Healthy Eating Director.

Tammi is a registered and licensed dietitian and holds a Master's Degree in Dietetics and Nutrition from the University of Kansas Medical Center. She also holds a Certificate of Training in Childhood and Adolescent Weight Management.

She spent the past five years working in both the clinical and community settings promoting wellness and the importance of good nutrition. She has been a nutrition consultant with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation, implementing a research-based nutrition education program in Kansas City area schools prior to returning to her hometown of Wichita.

“Good nutrition is vital to healthy living and that’s why it’s a top priority in our Vision 2020,” noted Greater Wichita YMCA Chief Executive Officer Dennis Schoenebeck. “In a recent community poll, about 4 out of 5 people said that they lack the knowledge to make healthy eating choices. Tammi will be leading our efforts internally and externally to close that knowledge gap.”

Before joining the YMCA, Tammi worked at Wesley Medical Center providing medical nutrition therapy.  She has experience developing health programs and teaching nutrition and cooking classes to all ages. Her passion is helping others find easy and practical ways to make healthier choices a part of daily life.
